Best running shoes for Indian roads under ₹8000?
I run about 30 km per week on a mix of tarmac roads and park trails in Delhi. My current shoes (Nike Revolution 6) are worn out after 500 km. Looking for recommendations under ₹8000 that can handle the rough Indian road surfaces – potholes, gravel patches, uneven footpaths. I have a neutral gait and weigh 75 kg. Cushioning is my priority because my knees take a beating on hard surfaces.

At 75 kg and 30 km/week on Indian roads, you need shoes with good cushioning AND durable outsoles. Here are my top picks under ₹8000: **1. ASICS Gel-Cumulus 26 (₹7,499)** Best bang for buck. The gel cushioning in the heel is incredible for knee protection. The outsole is AHAR rubber which lasts 800+ km on Indian roads. I've personally run 750 km in mine and the tread is still fine. Fits true to size for Indian feet (which tend to be wider than Western sizing). **2. Brooks Ghost 16 (₹7,999)** Right at the budget but worth it. DNA LOFT cushioning is soft yet responsive. Excellent for neutral gait runners at your weight. The outsole handles gravel and wet roads well. These are my go-to for long runs. **3. Skechers GOrun Ride 12 (₹6,499)** Underrated brand for running. Their Hyper Burst foam is surprisingly good for the price. Lighter than ASICS/Brooks options. The mesh upper breathes well in Delhi heat. Outsole durability is decent – expect 600-700 km. **4. New Balance Fresh Foam 880v14 (₹7,999)** Fresh Foam midsole provides plush cushioning. Blown rubber outsole grips wet surfaces well (important for monsoon running). Roomy toe box suits Indian feet. **Avoid at this price range:** Nike Pegasus (outsole wears out fast on Indian roads – lasted only 400 km for me), Adidas Ultraboost (overpriced for what you get, outsole Continental rubber picks up every pebble). **Pro tip:** Buy from brand stores or official websites during end-of-season sales (usually March and September). You can get ₹10,000+ shoes for under ₹7,000. Decathlon also stocks ASICS and Brooks at decent prices.

All great recommendations above. I just want to add – if you're running in Delhi, invest in a **pair of trail shoes** as a backup for the monsoon months (July-September). Delhi roads become extremely slippery and regular running shoes lose grip. I use **Decathlon Evadict TR2 (₹3,499)** specifically for monsoon running. The Contagrip outsole handles wet tarmac and muddy park trails beautifully. Also consider getting your gait analysed at a proper running store. Many runners think they're neutral but actually overpronate slightly, which causes knee pain over time. The ASICS store in Select Citywalk does free gait analysis.
