Best cricket grounds in Mumbai for weekend tennis ball matches?

I recently moved to Andheri West and I'm looking for good grounds where I can play tennis ball cricket on weekends. Preferably something that's not too expensive and has decent pitch conditions. I've played on a few maidans but the outfield is terrible in most of them during monsoon. Would love recommendations for synthetic pitches or turf grounds that are available on Saturday and Sunday mornings. Budget is around ₹2000-3000 for a 2-hour slot for the whole team.

Great question! I've been playing weekend cricket in Mumbai for 5 years. Here are my top picks for Andheri area: 1. **Shivaji Park Gymkhana** – Classic Mumbai cricket ground. The outfield drains well even after rain. Costs around ₹2500 for a 2-hour morning slot on weekends. Book at least a week in advance. 2. **Celebration Sports Club, Andheri East** – They have a synthetic pitch which is perfect for tennis ball. Around ₹2000 for 2 hours. The outfield is artificial turf so monsoon isn't a problem at all. 3. **MIG Cricket Club, Bandra** – Slightly south of Andheri but worth the drive. They allow non-members on weekends if you book early. Around ₹3000 but the facilities are top-notch with changing rooms and clean washrooms. 4. **Poisar Gymkhana, Kandivali** – If you don't mind going slightly north, this is very affordable at ₹1500 for 2 hours and the pitch is well-maintained. Pro tip: Most grounds in Mumbai get booked by Wednesday for the weekend. Use the Sportiplay app to find last-minute cancellations – that's how I've found slots many times!

Adding to the list – check out **Karnatak Sporting Association** ground near Matunga. It's a bit far from Andheri but the pitch quality is unmatched for tennis ball. They have floodlights too if you want evening games. Also, **Nesco Ground** near Goregaon Exhibition Centre sometimes opens up slots during non-event weekends. Call them directly – they don't list online. I managed to get a slot for ₹1800 last month and the ground was huge, perfect for proper 11-a-side. One more thing – avoid the open maidans near Juhu during July-August. The waterlogging is insane and you'll spend more time fetching the ball from puddles than playing!
