Where to find leather ball cricket teams in Bangalore for 30+ age group?

I'm 34 years old and played decent level cricket in college but stopped after getting a job. Now I want to get back into leather ball cricket seriously. I stay in Whitefield, Bangalore. Are there any clubs or teams that play regular weekend leather ball tournaments for the 30+ age group? I don't want to play with 20-year-olds who bowl 130 kmph thunderbolts – I want competitive but age-appropriate cricket. Happy to travel anywhere within Bangalore on weekends.

Welcome back to cricket! Bangalore has a fantastic veterans cricket scene. Here are some options: 1. **Bangalore Veterans Cricket Club (BVCC)** – This is the most established 35+ cricket club in Bangalore. They play leather ball tournaments almost every weekend at various grounds across the city. Matches are on Sundays typically 7 AM to 1 PM. They have teams of different skill levels. Contact them through their Facebook page. 2. **KSCA Corporate Cricket League** – KSCA runs a corporate leather ball league with different age categories. The 30+ division is very popular. Season runs from October to March. Registration usually opens in August. 3. **Whitefield Cricket Association** – Since you're in Whitefield, this is perfect. They organise leather ball tournaments at the Prestige Shantiniketan ground and ITPL grounds. Mix of ages but very welcoming to older players. Matches on both Saturday and Sunday. 4. **Sportiplay Community** – Check the Bangalore Cricket community on Sportiplay. I've seen several LFG posts specifically looking for 30+ leather ball players. That's actually how I found my current team! Regarding fitness – start with 2-3 weeks of running and stretching before you play your first match. At 34, your body needs warm-up time. Hamstring and shoulder injuries are very common in returning cricketers. Trust me, I learned the hard way! 🏏

I am 36 and went through the exact same thing 2 years ago. Joined BVCC and it was the best decision. The camaraderie is amazing – everyone is in the same boat, trying to relive college cricket days. One practical tip: invest in good quality pads and a helmet even for leather ball. At our age, reflexes are slightly slower and you don't want to take a hit. Also, get your bowling action checked by a physio before you start bowling regularly. Many returning cricketers develop back problems because they bowl with an action their body can no longer support. Good luck and see you on the field!
