Where to find regular pickup basketball games in Ahmedabad?

Basketball in Ahmedabad seems almost non-existent compared to cricket and football. I played college basketball in Pune and moved to Ahmedabad 6 months ago. I've found a few courts but they're always empty or occupied by kids. Where do serious players (intermediate to advanced) play pickup games? I stay near SG Highway and can travel anywhere in the city on weekends.

Basketball in Ahmedabad is growing but you need to know where to look! **Regular Pickup Spots:** 1. **CEPT University Courts** – Best maintained outdoor courts in Ahmedabad. Serious players gather here on Saturday mornings (7-10 AM) and Sunday evenings (4-7 PM). The level is intermediate to advanced. Just show up with shoes and ask to run – everyone is welcoming. 2. **Gujarat University Indoor Stadium** – They allow public play on weekday evenings (6-8 PM). Air-conditioned, proper wooden floor, glass backboards. ₹200 per session. Some very good players here including a few state-level guys. 3. **Sabarmati Riverfront Sports Complex** – Relatively new facility. Outdoor courts with floodlights. Pickup games happen on Tuesday and Thursday evenings (5:30-7:30 PM). Mix of skill levels but there's usually enough people to split into competitive and casual games. 4. **Ahmedabad Basketball Club** – They run sessions 3 times a week at Karnavati Club. Membership is needed for the club but basketball sessions are only ₹500/month on top. **For your SG Highway location:** Check out **Rajpath Club** – they have indoor basketball courts and a very active basketball group. It's 10 minutes from SG Highway. Join the Sportiplay Basketball community for Ahmedabad – there are about 30-40 active members posting LFG regularly. That's actually how I found the CEPT pickup games!

Adding to the answer above – if you want to play in **competitive leagues**, the Gujarat State Basketball Association organises a corporate league every year around November-December. Registration is usually ₹8000 per team of 10. It's a great way to find committed players and form a regular group. Also, the **NBA Basketball School** in Ahmedabad (near Vastrapur Lake) runs adult training sessions on weekends. Even though it's marketed towards beginners, the coaches identify good players and connect them with serious groups. This is how I built my squad when I moved to Ahmedabad. One practical tip: bring your own ball. Many outdoor courts in Ahmedabad don't have balls available, and the quality of shared balls is usually terrible (slippery, under-inflated). A decent Spalding NBA replica costs about ₹1200 and makes a huge difference.
