How to find regular badminton partners in Hyderabad?
I moved to Hyderabad (Gachibowli area) for work 3 months ago and I'm struggling to find regular badminton partners. I play at intermediate level and want to play at least 3 times a week. I've tried a few courts near my apartment but the people there are either too advanced (they don't want to play with me) or absolute beginners. How do you find partners at a similar skill level in a new city? Any Hyderabad-specific tips would be great.

I went through the same struggle when I moved to Bangalore! Here's what finally worked for me: 1. **Join the Sportiplay Badminton community** for Hyderabad. Post an LFG (Looking For Game) with your skill level, preferred timings and area. I found 3 regular partners within 2 weeks of posting. 2. **Register at a dedicated badminton academy** like Pullela Gopichand Academy or Suchitra Badminton Academy (they have a Gachibowli branch). Even if you just take 1 class per week, you'll meet 10-15 players at your level and can arrange sessions outside class. 3. **Court manager networking** – talk to the person managing the courts you play at. They know everyone who comes regularly and can introduce you to players at your level. Bring a box of shuttles as a goodwill gesture. 4. **WhatsApp groups** – Every court in Hyderabad has a WhatsApp group for bookings. Ask the court manager to add you. Once you're in one group, people will add you to others. Within a month I was in 7 groups and had more games than I could handle! 5. **Playo/Sportiplay apps** – Post your availability and accepting challenges at your level. For Gachibowli specifically, try **RGA Badminton Court** (4 courts, very active group of intermediate players, play in mornings 6-8 AM) and **ISB Sports Complex** (they allow non-students to play on weekends).

One more tip that nobody mentions – play in **corporate badminton tournaments**. Almost every IT park in Gachibowli/Hitech City organises quarterly badminton tournaments. Even if your company doesn't have a sports committee, you can participate individually in open categories. I've found my best playing partners through these corporate tournaments. Plus it gives you a competitive environment to improve. Also check **Decathlon Gachibowli** – they organise free badminton sessions on the first Saturday of every month. Good way to meet players of all levels without any commitment.
