EA SPORTS FC 27 was announced on 23 July 2026 and releases worldwide on 25 September 2026. Early access begins a week earlier, on 18 September, for players who buy the Ultimate Edition or Ultimate Edition Plus.
This is the third entry since EA dropped the FIFA licence, and the headline change is not a new mode. It is a deliberate rebalancing of defending back towards manual control -- the thing the competitive community has asked for since FC 24.

FC 27 launches on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X and S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC. On PC it is available through the EA App, Steam and the Epic Games Store.
Note that the last-generation consoles -- PS4 and Xbox One -- are still supported, which matters in India where a large share of the player base has not upgraded.

Defending: auto tackles are gone
This is the biggest change in the game. EA has removed auto tackles and cut the influence of AI-controlled defenders, pushing control back to the player. Defending in FC 27 runs through jockeying, well-timed manual tackles and positioning rather than the CPU intervening on your behalf.
If you have played FC 26 and felt that your defence won the ball without you, this is the fix. Expect a genuine adjustment period in the first few weeks online.
Attacking: new run types and rebuilt set pieces
- Dynamic corner kicks with real-time control over defensive positioning and attacking intent -- you decide who goes where as the kick is taken
- Improved two-player header simulation, so aerial duels are contested properly rather than resolved by a single stat check
- Different run types, giving more freedom to time runs into the box
- Refreshed crossing mechanics alongside the corner rework
- Improved attacking awareness from AI teammates
New skill moves in FC 27
Four new skill moves have been confirmed:
- Stepover combos
- Fake turn
- Ball roll spin
- Kneel header

- Rebalanced PlayStyles that lean more heavily on underlying player attributes
- Off-balance dribbling for agile players
- More fluid player movement overall
- Smarter CPU behaviour
